The Day God Wipes Away Every Tear

Some grief becomes part of the life we continue to carry.

There may still be someone you miss, a memory that hurts, a question without an answer, or a part of your future that looks completely different because of what happened. Scripture does not ask you to pretend those things are gone. It gives you something greater than pressure to finally “move on.”

Revelation 21:1–5 takes us to the end of the story.

John sees God dwelling with His people. Death is gone. Mourning, crying, and pain are gone. God Himself wipes every tear, and the One sitting on the throne declares, “I am making everything new!”

God Does Not Tell You to Hurry Your Tears

One of the most tender details in Revelation 21 is easy to read past.

God wipes away every tear.

Scripture does not end the story of grief with God telling hurting people that they should have stopped crying sooner. It shows God coming near enough to wipe their tears Himself.

That means your continued sorrow is not something you need to hide from Him. You can bring Him the memory that still hurts, the absence that still feels strange, the question you cannot answer, and the future you are still learning how to imagine.

Christian hope is not pretending those things do not hurt.

Our hope is that grief does not get the final word.

Death does not get the final word.

Pain does not get the final word.

God does.

And He says, “I am making everything new!”

The Final Study in Walking Through Grief With God

The Day God Wipes Away Every Tear is Week 12 of the Walking Through Grief With God SOAP Bible study journey.

Throughout these twelve studies, we have not tried to leave grief behind. We have learned to bring it with us into the presence of God. We have lamented, asked difficult questions, poured out our hearts, faced loneliness, received strength, made room for hope, and remembered that because Jesus rose, death does not have the final word.

This final study does not suggest that twelve weeks should be enough to finish grieving.

Instead, Revelation 21 gives us somewhere to face while we continue walking.

There will come a day when we will no longer need to learn how to carry grief.

Until then, we keep walking with the God who meets us in it.

The study may end here. Your walk with God does not.
