Why These Three Books

Three Devotionals That Will Deepen Your Faith

When I first began writing chapter-by-chapter devotionals, I didn’t set out to create a series. I simply wanted to help people open their Bibles again and meet God personally. Over time, I realized something beautiful was forming, a sequence of devotionals that followed the natural rhythm of faith itself: knowing God, believing in Christ, and being sent by the Spirit.

These three books, That You May Know God (Genesis), That You May Believe (John), and That You May Be Sent (Acts), are the heart of the Interactive Bible Studies project. They represent not just the story of Scripture, but the journey of every believer who longs to walk closely with God.

That You May Know God – Genesis

I consider Genesis first because I’ve always been struck by how it makes God God in a very practical way. While people often debate the validity of events in Genesis, such as the Flood, Creation, and the late birth of Isaac. To think that God would not be capable of these things would be to deny His deity. In Genesis, we first observe for ourselves the things that only God can do: Create, punish sin, make promises and keep them, forgive, and speak of things still to come.

What stood out most to me was how this book defines our faith at its foundation. So many people begin their spiritual journey with a verse like John 3:16, but Genesis shows that faith truly starts with knowing the one and only true God, with each believer grappling with accepting God as simply God. Before Jesus came to dwell among us, before redemption and the resurrection, God was already God. He was the Creator, the Alpha, the beginning of all things. It’s out of that truth that our faith moves, grows, and breathes life into us.

If I had to pick one moment that changed me most while writing this devotional, it would be those simple opening words: “In the beginning, God created.” There is no other phrase like it. It’s more than a statement of origin; it’s a declaration of complete sovereignty. Paul said it well in Acts 17: God is the Creator of all things. That single truth still moves me. How can anyone read that and not believe?

My hope for readers of That You May Know God is that they discover God for who He truly is. He is not a God we shape to fit our comfort, but the God who simply is. The God who does not ask for permission to be who He is. We don’t get to mold Him. He defines Himself. When we start there, everything else about our faith makes sense.

If you’re ready to begin your journey of truly knowing who God is, I invite you to start with That You May Know God – Genesis — available on Amazon and at InteractiveBibleStudies.net.

That You May Believe – John

Interestingly, That You May Believe is the first devotional I wrote. It actually came before Genesis. I’ve always told new believers to start with the Gospel of John because it clearly declares who Jesus is. It lays out the fundamental truths of our faith, that Jesus is God, that there is only one Savior, and that He died on the cross as a ransom for our sins.

What makes John special to me personally is his simplicity. I’ve always been a practical thinker. I love clear statements that can’t be argued away. John begins with one: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” There’s no ambiguity there. It’s a bold claim that leaves no room for doubt. From that opening, the Gospel moves from the cosmic to the personal, leading us straight to John 3:16: “For God so loved the world,” teaching us how to receive eternal life.

While writing this devotional, I wasn’t thinking about a specific “type” of reader. I wrote for all believers, the new Christian, the doubter, and the weary follower alike. Belief isn’t something we achieve once; it’s something that continues to grow. The more we study, pray, memorize, meditate, and serve, the more our belief matures. Peter’s call echoes in my mind: “Be holy because I am holy.” That holiness starts with a heart that truly believes.

Each chapter of John deepened my faith in Christ. Every story built upon the last, from the miracles to the teachings, until it reached the question Jesus asked Peter: “Do you love me?” I believe He’s still asking that question today. To love Him is to know Him, to trust Him above all else, and to live in obedience that shows our love through action.

My prayer for readers of That You May Believe is that it renews a simple, strong belief in Jesus, not as an abstract figure, but as the living Word who still speaks.

That You May Be Sent – Acts

After Genesis and John, I knew the next step had to be Acts. It felt like the natural completion of what God had started through the first two books. Once we know God and believe in Christ, the next question is, “What now?” The answer is simple: Go.

Ending the trilogy with Acts felt right because it captures the movement of faith. We aren’t called to stand still, satisfied that we know the truth. We are called to share it. In Acts, Jesus tells His followers they will be His witnesses “in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” That command wasn’t just for them; it’s still for us.

When I wrote That You May Be Sent, I realized how much we, as the Church, depend on others to do what God has already equipped each of us to do. We have a generation of wonderful pastors, writers, and worship leaders, but what happens when it’s just you and the people in your life who don’t know Christ? Acts reminds us that the same Holy Spirit who empowered Peter and Paul also empowers us.

The title came from that sense of ongoing mission. We’re still being sent into our neighborhoods, workplaces, and families. Writing this book was also God’s reminder to me that my own ministry is to keep creating resources like these. Even if they don’t sell in large numbers, they’re an act of obedience and joy. I’m called to build tools that help others grow, and that’s precisely what I plan to keep doing.

I hope that readers of Acts will feel compelled to move, to live sent lives, not in a vague or abstract way, but through intentional steps of faith. Whether it’s sharing a word of hope, leading a study, or simply showing God’s love to someone who needs it, this book is a reminder that faith is meant to move.

If you’re ready to live your faith out loud and step boldly into the mission God has given you, start with That You May Be Sent – Acts — available on Amazon and at InteractiveBibleStudies.net.

The Story That Connects Them All

Looking back now, I see clearly how these three devotionals form one continuous story. That You May Know God helps believers establish a foundation of who God is. That You May Believe deepens that relationship through faith in Jesus. That You May Be Sent challenges readers to live that faith out in the world. Together, they form a complete spiritual journey from knowledge to belief to action.

This sequence didn’t come from a publishing plan; it grew naturally out of where God was leading me at each step. These books are special because they are the first. They shaped not just my understanding of Scripture but also my calling to create Interactive Bible Studies, a space where believers can grow together through the Word.

The Heart of Interactive Bible Studies

When I began InteractiveBibleStudies.net, I wanted it to be more than a place to read devotionals. I wanted it to become a community, a place where faith comes alive through connection, learning, and shared purpose. These first three books are the foundation of that vision. They represent knowing, believing, and being sent: three movements that define the Christian life.

What I hope people feel when they finish reading this post isn’t just a desire to buy a book, but an invitation to be part of something bigger. My dream is to see believers form an online community where God remains the center — not a personality, not a platform, but the living God who unites us. A space where we can learn, pray, serve, and grow together, using every tool the internet gives us for His glory.
